Quend-Plage: a 100% family destination
At vacation at Quend-Plagethe days stretch out to the rhythm of nature. At 9 a.m., after breakfast on the mobile-home terrace, we hop on the bikes rented from the campsite. The nearby cycle paths guide us gently through the cool pine trees to the Parc du Marquenterre, where the children play explorer and watch the migratory birds from the lookout posts.
Around 1pm, back to the sea. The 15 kilometers of fine sand of Quend beach – one of the largest family beaches in the Baie de Somme – offer an infinite playground. While the older children try their hand at the exhilarating thrills of sand yachting with a local school, the younger ones build sand castles or fly their kites in the sea breeze. Swimming, supervised in summer, refreshes the whole tribe.
In the late afternoon, the pleasures vary. Some will choose to take to the heights of the ropes courses in the pine forest, while others will prefer the peaceful pace of the nearby asinery, for the pleasure of petting the animals and taking a donkey ride.
Evening falls slowly. We often allow ourselves a detour to the Pointe du Hourdel or Berck beach, with the often rewarding hope ofspotting seals in the distance. The day ends around the campsite barbecue. The children soon fall asleep, their legs heavy but their heads full of iodized memories.
