History of Quend-Plage-les-Pins
Did you know that Quend-Plage-les-Pins was once called Saint-Quentin-Plage ? The resort owes its current name to the pine forest that surrounds it, an essential feature of the local landscape. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that Quend-Plage began to take off under the impetus of Adéodat Vasseur. This visionary modernized the village and planted pine trees to stabilize the dunes. Numerous facilities were built to attract holidaymakers. The first hotel was built, followed by holiday villas, marking the beginnings of seaside tourism in Quend-Plage! However, the Second World War left its mark: several houses were destroyed, and the seafront suffered heavy damage. Fortunately, the resort was reborn after the war. Quend’s waterfront was rebuilt in the years that followed.
